Virial (disambiguation)

The virial of a central interaction potential $v(r)$ is defined as

$V(r)={\frac {dv(r)}{dr}}r=-f(r)r.$

The virial features prominently in classical thermodynamics (for example, see virial coefficients) and in simulation (see: virial pressure).
