Boyle's law states that

where is the pressure, Failed to parse (SVG (MathML can be enabled via browser plugin): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/":): {\displaystyle V} is the volume and Failed to parse (SVG (MathML can be enabled via browser plugin): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/":): {\displaystyle k} is a constant. This holds true for an ideal gas.

Boyle's law is attributed to both Robert Boyle and to Edme Mariotte. However, it seems that it was originally proposed by Henry Power in 1661 [1].
